Bifrost Communications ApS

BFC has developed and patented technology facilitating advantages of coherent detection at a cost comparable with conventional direct detection. Key to this analogue signal processing chip has already been prototyped for 10 Gbps operation. INCOM provides unique opportunity to further develop this for 25 Gbps and even 50 Gbps applications in collaboration with DTU Electro and to test and demonstrate the capability of Bifrost’s technology in various optical systems in collaboration with DTU Fotonik.

Aarhus Universitet

The Dept. of Engineering (ENG) provides strong expertise in research and innovation in electrical and computer engineering. ENG contributes with competences in photonics, communication systems & networks, and computer architectures. Undertaken activities progresses communication systems and data clouds to advance state of the art in 5G and IoT. The INCOM project will expand the knowledge base of ENG in photonics integration as well as robust, secure and efficient communication system designs.

DTU

DTU Elektro is represented by the electromagnetic systems group. The key competencies invested in INCOM are high-frequency integrated electronics, signal integrity and interconnect modelling for packaging and hybrid integration.

DTU Fotonik is a world-leading institution in optical communications, networks and photonic integration, cf. recent international evaluation. These competencies are invested into INCOM. Several fundamental science insights have been developed over the last 10 years, and DTU Fotonik’s motivation in INCOM is to ensure that this knowledge is transferred to Danish industry.
